The Brewery Shop's Top 5 Winter Warming Ales

With the clocks changing this weekend, this marks our shop teams annual change over from light, hoppy golden ales to delicious, warming, rich stouts porters and dark ales. They have picked out 5 of their favourite beers available from our shop which you can enjoy.

Our shop sells over 300 different beers from breweries across the UK, Europe and beyond. The team will be recommending some of their favourite beers in different varieties each week so you can pick up a few to try and compare notes with the team.

Straffe Hendrik
Belgian Strong Quadruple Beer

We start with a delicious, warming beer which is meant to be savored and quaffed slowly.

A rich beer, intensely dark in colour and full-bodied. A complex character with notes of coriander, dark fruit and anise.

11% ABV

Ridgeway Brewing
Imperial Red Ale

This beer fuses the best of red ales with the best of Barley Wine.

Deep red ale with a bitterness not usual for this style, and a vinous character. Enjoy after dinner with cheese.

10% ABV

Inveralmond Lia Fail
Malty Amber Ale

Named after the"stone of destiny" in Gaellish, by which the Scottish kings were crowned. The stone was stolen by Edward 1st for Westminster Abbey and only returned in 1996 but we've kept hold of the beer!

Warming malty body with nutty, chocolate notes. Full and mellow.

4.7% ABV

Hogs Back Brewery
Old Tongham Tasty

Our OTT is a perfect candidate for this series too, a case of which is perfect for enjoying by the fireside.

A strong black beer with rich, complex aromas & taste. Smooth with powerful roasted malt flavours.

6% ABV

Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout

Silky and smooth textured ale with a complex medium dry palate and bittersweet finish.

Consume with hearty dishes like Steak and Kidney pudding or stews.

5% ABV
