The TEA Drinkers' Pub of the Year 2020 is...

More than 220 pubs, both in Hogs Back’s Surrey heartlands and further afield, took part in Hogs Back's ‘Support Your Local, Go TEA Total’ campaign, which ran throughout January.

Hogs Back Brewery has named The Kings Head in Billingshurst as the ‘TEA Drinkers’ Pub of the Year 2020’ having run a fantastic campaign with their locals who believe they serve the best pint of TEA in Sussex. The campaign, designed to encourage more people to support their local during the pub trade’s quietest month, achieved Hogs Back’s highest ever levels of engagement among licensees and drinkers with the campaign reaching more than 130,000 people through our social media channels.

As well as the TEA Drinkers Pub of the Year, which attracted votes from 450 drinkers for 59 pubs, the campaign also rewarded pubgoers through a weekly ‘TEA Total Thursday’ competition, giving brewery tours to those who ‘tagged’ the mates they were taking to the pub.

Four other pubs, who also received a great number of nominations in the competition have received a Hogs Back Highly Commended status. These pubs serving a great pint of TEA are The Wooden Bridge Guildford, The Wheatsheaf Heatherside (Camberley), The Onslow Arms Clandon and The Crispin, Wokingham.

Hogs Back managing director Rupert Thompson said: “We’re delighted with the response to Go TEA Total among pubs and their customers, who clearly engaged with the campaign’s messages about banishing the January blues with a walk to the pub and a sociable pint of TEA.

“We’re confident the campaign made January a more cheerful month for many pubs and reminded pubgoers about why they love their local, and the importance of supporting it throughout the year. We’re looking forward to building on Go Tea Total and making it bigger and better in 2021.”

Pub of the Year 2020 - The Kings Head, Billingshurst

Fantastic atmosphere. Great food. Awesome staff. Good old fashioned local.

The Kings Head is a pub in Billingshurst, serving delicious food in a friendly atmosphere. They have a great range of beers, ciders, real ales as well as wide selection of craft beers. With a new chef on board, The Kings Head serves traditional pub favourites such as ham, egg and chips, locally sourced quality steaks and sausage and mash. As soon as you step inside you feel that welcoming, traditional atmosphere with a fire roaring and the friendly smile from Colin or Oonagh behind the bar. It's a perfect pub to watch sport or join in with the Darts team and hosts fantastic parties and live music. TEA has been on the bar there for years and it's no surprise they have been voted West Sussex Pub of the Year two years running by the County Times. We are delighted that they have won and would also like to congratulate our Highly Commended pubs where you are guaranteed a cracking pint of TEA.
